It’s been another busy month in the Delicious Media Studio with a range of projects, updates and fixes for our clients including creating the ability to view and download LearnDash certificates for entire groups of learners, uploading learners in bulk and automatically enrolling them on a course via a .csv file and amending the standard messaging seen by learners submitting assignments through LearnDash…
Group certificates for a LearnDash client
We have implemented cohort certificates for entire groups of learners, allowing our client to track learners’ progress as a group and see overall improvements. Unlike the standard LearnDash functionality that provides certificates for individual learners, we have developed the capability to view and download certificates for groups or cohorts. These certificates can be viewed online or downloaded as PDFs, which can then be printed or attached to emails as needed.
This enhanced functionality supports course leaders and organisations by providing a means to monitor learner progress, verify course completion, and ensure positive outcomes.
Uploading new learners to LearnDash as a .csv file
We created the functionality to be able to upload new learners directly into LearnDash and automatically enrol them on courses depending on certain settings. This means that learners don’t have to manually register for a course, enter their details or create an account. This has been particularly beneficial for a client who uses LearnDash to deliver in-person training where the learners arrive for the session ready to start. The learners are already enrolled on the course and can access the learning material straightaway, saving them time at the beginning of the session.
This is part of a multi-tenanted LMS, for a training company who have multiple clients using the system. The process takes into account licensing and checks that the company has the required number of seats available on their licence before enrolling learners. This functionality can also force the learners to reset their password when they first log in for themselves to secure their account.
Bug fixes for a new WordPress site
We’ve been working with a client who has had a new website built by another developer which is currently on a testing server. Although the site looks appealing, there are several bugs and performance problems they need to iron out before launching and wanted some more experienced WordPress developers to take a look at the site.
Custom messaging for assignment submissions in LearnDash
LearnDash’s standard functionality allows learners to submit assignments for review as part of their learning. Assignments can then be approved by the course provider and marked as a “pass”. One of our LearnDash development clients is using assignments slightly differently in that they are not marked as a pass or fail, but simply acknowledged to allow the learner to complete the course. They, therefore, didn’t want to show learners the standard messaging around assignment submissions awaiting approval or comments on assignments. We removed the standard wording from the LearnDash Assignment Submissions page to avoid confusion for the learners and provide a better user experience.
Restaurant client offers delivery through 3 delivery partners
One of our restaurant clients with multiple locations across London had previously offered delivery through one delivery partner and only at selected locations. They came to us to update their website to offer delivery from all locations through three delivery partners. Customers can now place orders on their website and selected their desired delivery partner at checkout.
WooCommerce Security Update June 2024
In June, WooCommerce released a security update to address a cross-site scripting vulnerability. Thankfully, the vulnerability did not affect any of our current clients’ websites. If you’re running WooCommerce on your website, we’d recommend updating to the latest version as soon as possible.
Sheffield Women in Tech Event
There were 18 attendees on 11th June for our lunchtime meeting. We broke out into three groups to discuss what people wanted from the meetings in the future and to assess the ever-evolving needs of women working in tech. The brainstorming session was a great success and our next event will be a similar format on 19th July – bring your own lunch!
